Rambo your way through it
Trying something for the first time can be pretty scary. Anytime you do something with uncertainty, you and everyone around you are always second guessing your decisions. It's sort of like being lost in the woods. Time is ticking, the bad weather is rolling in, and you only have enough supplies for very limited amount of time.
When you try something as difficult as starting a business, it's sort of like the movie "First Blood" starring Sylvester Stallone as John Rambo. To those that are unfamiliar with the movie, John Rambo is a highly-skilled Green Beret vietnam war veteran. In attempt to mind his own business and better his life, Rambo meets a sheriff that interferes and disrupts his path. And because Rambo is not a pushover, he fights back in ways that require every bit of skill he acquired as a Green Beret. This leads into a magnificent chase throughout the forest, where the sheriff thinks they are hunting Rambo. In fact, it is Rambo that is hunting them.
When you start a business, you are very much like Rambo. You will be lost in a completely unknown territory. Naysayers, non-believers, competitors, and people that don't have the gumption to do something out of the ordinary will all be trying to hold you back in life. You will need to use every resource you have in order to thrive. Your mental game must be sharp and durable. Sometimes you will feel completely free and sometimes you will feel trapped.
If you are trained for those situations, you will be the hunter; with very little to fear. That is where we come in. We at Dream Starters are very much like Colonel Troutman, Rambo's mentor and teacher. Colonel Troutman not only prepares Rambo for the journey, he also protects him in difficult situations.
In the early days of starting a business, I cannot stress how important it is to have someone making sure that you stay the course and can handle all of the unknown variables that the world will throw your way. Take it from a group of people that learned the hard way: Be prepared.
As the saying goes, those that fail to plan... are planning to fail.
